Getting close enough to use a DDOS is often the tricky part of Dead Battery. The pulse can reach targets roughly 15 to 20 metres away and pass through solid cover, so you don't have to stand in the open while a drone is firing at you. Duck behind a wall, wait for the target to move into range, then activate the upgrade. If you're looking at Modern Warfare 4 Boosting as an option, it's still worth learning how the pulse works before heading into Hajin. A successful hit should bring up a confirmation on screen.
Get your gear ready
You'll need to craft a DDOS at the Forward Operating Base before deploying. Open the 3D Printer, head to Field Upgrades and check that you've got the required Electronics and Detonators. The order calls for three disabled targets, so print extra units if you've got enough materials. Equip one and put the others in your backpack. It's also worth making a few Decoy Grenades from the Tacticals menu. They can help draw a stubborn drone closer when it won't come within reach on its own.
Pick the right targets
Dead Battery sits on the Underground faction page and asks you to disable three enemy vehicles or combat drones. Don't waste a charge on an empty vehicle; the objective tracks occupied enemy vehicles and active combat drones. Chang-san Air Base and The Grid are good places to look for convoys and patrolling drones, though neither is a quiet place to wander around. Take a moment to check the area before moving in. You might spot a target from cover without having to fight through everyone nearby.
Make each pulse count
A building or concrete wall can give you enough protection to trigger the DDOS without exposing yourself. Keep an eye on the distance, though. Cover won't help if the target is outside the pulse's reach. For drones that keep their distance, try tossing a Decoy Grenade and wait for one to move closer before activating the upgrade. Once you've landed a hit, swap another DDOS from your backpack into the active slot. Then look for your next target rather than rushing straight into another fight.
Collect your rewards and extract
Disabled drones can crash and leave useful parts behind. If the area is clear, check the wreckage for components such as drone motherboards, which can help with the Death From Above order. Keep track of your Dead Battery progress as you go, since you need three qualifying targets. Players who choose to buy CoD MW4 Boosting can still make the most of a run by bringing spare equipment and watching for useful loot. Once the order is complete, regroup and head for an extraction helicopter with what you've collected.
